Yay, thing’s I’ve been waiting for came in the mail today!

My special Dolly (She’s A Doll Fixer) inspired blend of Adagio tea - I was a little worried but it actually turned out pretty good!  I’m gonna try making it into an iced tea, I think it would work well that way.  :)  If anyone out there has tea experience and is interested in trying it, I’d appreciate your comments!

And, my concert band music for The Hobbit came in today!!!  I’ve been waiting for this for soooo long, it was on back order forever (I ordered it back in February!)  I’m so excited - probably even more than the kids, haha!

I’m Stuck At Home…

Waiting for my first batch of Adagio tea blend and new band music, both of which are supposed to arrive today.  I need to go grocery shopping, but I don’t want to risk missing either of those and then having to wait until Monday!  Tea could wait I suppose, but I really need that music so we can start practicing it.

Anyway, I’ve just been waiting around and started looking through my old sketchbooks from high school when I was in AP art, and dang!  I wish I had so much inspiration and ideas for drawing now!  Even my sketchbook from college, I was still helping design t-shirts for the high school band and doing a few commissions, so I had to plan and sketch and color test and stuff.  Now it’s a struggle for me to sketch one of my characters doing something relatively interesting.  :(

Other artists, what do you do to keep yourselves motivated and give yourself fresh ideas?  I would really love to have that drive to draw and paint again, but I just don’t anymore.

"Art and music are the first things to go in schools. The role of art is disappearing. When we were kids, we learned about bakers and candlestick makers. We learned about cobblers and all these old-school, awesome things that people did their entire lives. They specialized in making one thing. … In archeology, the things that matter most are handmade: ceramics, glass, sarcophagi, paintings. The most valued objects of lost cultures are the things that were made by hand. We need to start making things with our hands again."

Music in Film?!

Yes! Even more excited now. :)

So excited to be playing in an actual ensemble again!!

Yes, it may only be two of us, but it will sure beat just playing orchestral excerpts alone in my office after school  :P

We’re rehearsing tomorrow and performing during church on Sunday - can’t wait!!!  :)

I just made a Valentine’s Day card for Jon.

Like, drew on some paper and glued it onto scrapbook paper.

It may or may not have pokemon references… even though it’s glued onto music note scrapbook paper.

He should feel lucky.  He’s pretty much dating a nerdy fifth grader who likes crafts.  :P

8:15-ish and on… WOW!  (not that the entire thing isn’t amazing, that part is just… dang!)

I need some new blogs to follow!

So, like or reblog this if you post any of the following and I’ll check out (and most likely follow) your blog  :)

Obligatory Merry Christmas Post

That sounded kind of Grinchy….It was a good day.  I’m just exhausted.  :P

I finally got to see Navigator after missing him for about 3 weeks.  He was super fat - I almost couldn’t get the girth around him!  And very sassy and fresh.  It wasn’t a very productive or even fun ride.  I was just happy to see him though  <3

In other news, I just returned from my Chicago adventure at the Midwest Clinic!  For more on that, check out my music teacher blog (firstyearmusicteacher.tumblr.com).  It was amazing though.  I learned so much, and I got to spend a week in Chicago with my boyfriend.  Can’t get much better than that  :)

And for those who are interested, I got some new riding pants (Kerrits, full seat), some new flute music (Orchestral Excerpts!!), clothes that I can wear for teaching, a cardigan with little horses on it, and my Dad got Skyrim for the family (which I have kind of claimed…no one else has gone for it yet)  :)

I can’t hear 17kHz… As a band director, this could be a problem… :-/

Tomorrow is my first day of teaching!

There’s no way I’ll be able to sleep tonight.  :P  So exicted!

I’m a little worried that I won’t have enough stuff to fill up my classtime though.  The good thing is, since it’s the first day, I can always lead the “what did you do during summer vacation” discussion if I need to fill at the end.

I can’t believe this is really happening!!

Still kind of nervous about actually accepting the job…

I have until Monday to give them a final answer.  Right now I’m leaning really far toward “yes”.  But, I’m still scared.  I know I’ll be busy and stressed out and feel like a crazy person.  But I also know that I can do it, and that I won’t be alone.

I don’t know.  I’m going with my family to check out the town tomorrow and look at apartment options and stuff like that.  So, maybe that will help me decide.

Probably not though.  I think deep down I’ve already decided.

Looks like I’ve got a job lined up for this fall!!!

And I know I can do it :)

I think what I’ll do is…

Wait for the call.  If they don’t offer it, no problems.  If they do, I’ll ask a few lingering questions I have, and then ask for a little more time to consider it.

Having a plan feels good.
